Everything you need to write about Self-Control accurately — boilerplate you can quote verbatim, the facts, and the privacy claims stated specifically enough to check.

Boilerplate

Quote either of these verbatim. If you need a longer version, or a quote on a specific angle, just ask.

Short — 50 words
Self-Control is the shared family calendar, reusable lists, and recurring routines in one forgiving place. Each scheduled day is its own page, and each job carries whoever actually did it — including the kids, who need no account. No ads, no streaks, no shame, no third-party trackers. Independent and self-funded. Free up to 10 tasks; $5.99/mo for 100.
Standard — 100 words
Self-Control is the shared family calendar, reusable lists, and recurring routines in one place, built around how a household actually runs. Every scheduled day has its own independent state — miss Tuesday's watering and Wednesday is untouched, a deliberate departure from the streak-and-shame design common in habit trackers. Each job also records whoever actually did it, so the handoff is visible without anyone keeping score — and children or other household members ride along as named people with no account, no seat, and no notifications. Independently built, with first-party analytics only and no third-party trackers, on web, iOS, and Android. The free tier covers 10 recurring tasks; Pro is $5.99/month or $47.99/year for up to 100.

Privacy, stated so you can check it

These are specific, checkable claims rather than a general promise. We lead with the forgiving design and pair the privacy posture with it.

  • First-party analytics only. No third-party product-analytics SDK. The analytics data is deliberately free of personal information — a signup cohort date, a coarse signup source, and a once-a-day active timestamp; never your email, name, or content.
  • No third-party trackers, no ad-tech, no tracking cookies. Arrival attribution is read once from the browser at sign-up and kept in memory — nothing is stored on your device for it.
  • Web-push encryption we wrote ourselves. Browser push uses our own implementation of the public RFC 8291 / RFC 8292 standards — no third-party push SDK in the path — with its byte derivation pinned in tests against the standard's known-answer vector.
  • Self-hosted operations data. Logs, metrics, and traces run on our own infrastructure with identifiers redacted before storage, rather than being shipped to an outside vendor.
  • Your history is yours. Full CSV and JSON export anytime, plus an unconditional 14-day refund. Leaving takes everything with you.
  • No streaks, no shame mechanics. The forgiving design and the privacy posture are the same promise from two sides: the product doesn't manufacture pressure to keep you opening it, and it doesn't treat your data as inventory.
