Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Self-Control, a recurring-tasks tracker provided by Skadi International Corporation ("the Provider", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Self-Control lets you create recurring tasks (named groups of chores, appointments, and checklist items on a day-based schedule), which generate dated occurrences you can track and complete, optionally shared with a small team. We provide the Service on an ongoing basis and may add, change, or remove features over time.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@self-control.app of any unauthorised use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, or harmful purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our infrastructure;
- probe, scan, disrupt, overload, or circumvent rate limits, security, or access controls;
- reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service except as permitted by law;
- upload malware or use the Service to store or transmit illegal content; or
- misuse team and invite features to spam or harass others.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Your content
You retain all rights to the content you create in the Service ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to host, process, back up, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and the people you share it with. You are responsible for Your Content and for having the rights to it. You can export or delete Your Content at any time (see Privacy Policy → Your rights).
5. Plans, billing, and renewals
The Service offers a Free plan and a paid Pro plan.
- Pro pricing is $5.99/month or $47.99/year (subject to localized pricing in some regions). Current plan limits (for example, the number of tasks and team members) are shown in-app and may change with notice.
- Merchant of record. Payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as the merchant of record and reseller. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms. Paddle handles billing, applicable taxes (VAT/GST/sales tax), invoicing, and payment-method data.
- Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing in the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you can resume before then at no extra charge.
- Refunds. We offer a full refund within 14 days of each charge (initial purchase and each renewal). Your mandatory consumer rights are unaffected. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for how to cancel and request a refund.
- Downgrades. If your subscription ends or lapses, Pro-only assets above the Free limits are paused, not deleted — they remain in your account and can be reactivated if you resubscribe.
6. Free plan and beta status
The Service may be offered in alpha/beta during early access. Beta features are provided "as is", may change or be withdrawn, and may be less stable. We may set or adjust Free-plan limits over time.
7. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service, and will give reasonable notice of material adverse changes where practicable.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, for legal reasons, or if continuing to provide the Service becomes impractical. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; data handling follows our Privacy Policy, including the 30-day soft-delete window.
9. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Self-Control is a productivity tool and is not a medical, healthcare, legal, or professional-advice service; do not rely on it as such. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of important information.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Provider will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold the Provider harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of the Province of Alberta, Canada will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
